6. Script Draft
Here is a first draft of the script, things will be changed but I just wanted to keep people up to date, more to come very soon.
Beetle and door (Title unknown)
Draft 1
Int/ Beetles House/ Time Unknown
Mid shot of the Beetle’s house, in the bottom left we see
the Beetle on a sofa reading a paper; we don’t see his face yet as the paper is
in the way. There are pictures on the walls of abstract art, suggesting that
the Beetle is quite intelligent. The camera pans down to a mid-shot of the
beetle on his sofa. There is a knock at the door. The Beetle puts down his
paper and turns to the right.
Beetle (Curious)
“Hmmm, knock a the
door, wonder who it is”
The Beetle folds up his paper and stands up. Cut to a mid-shot
of the door, the beetle walks up and opens it, there is no-one there. The
camera cuts to a shot of the hallway, there are portraits of people on the
walls.
Beetle (Confused)
“No-one there,
must be hearing things”
Cut back to the previous shot, the Beetle shuts the door
and walks out of shot. Cut back to the sofa shot, where the Beetle sits down
and picks up his newspaper
Beetle
(Re-Relaxing)
“Now where was I
(Sigh)”
There is a knock at the door again. The Beetle moves the
paper down again, but quicker, looking disgruntled
Beetle (Confident
yet confused)
“Now that is
definitely a knock”
Cut back to the mid shot of the door. The Beetle hastily
pulls the door open, his face drops in a confused way. Cut back to the shot of
the empty hallway. Cut back to the Beetle; close up of his head and shoulders,
looking to the left.
Beetle (Angry)
“Listen, if this is the neighbor kids,
I know your parents”
He slams
the door and marches out of shot. Cut to a long shot of his house, we see him
back at the sofa in the bottom left corner of the screen. As he sits down there
is another knock at the door. Close up of the paper the Beetle is reading, he
moves the paper down and we see he as an extremely angry expression on his
face.
Title Card
“2 Days Later”
We see the
Beetle in a twisted version of his house, he is sat on the floor staring into
the distance. Another knock at his door. He cranks his head towards the door.
Beetle (Disturbed)
“I know there is someone there, I waited
for you today”
He crawls
over to some papers and scrawls on the page.
Beetle (Disturbed)
“(Laughs) Only 4 times so far”
He turns
his head
Beetle (Disturbed)
“You’re late”
Cut to a
shot of his face close up, the background is a twisted mess
Beetle (Disturbed)
“But he won’t be long, I’ve mapped it.”
Cut to a
different shot of the beetle’s face, close up on the mouth
Beetle (Disturbed)
“I’ll get you, and oh will it be
satisfying, oh-ho yes”
Zoom out
and twist to see the Beetle is on the ceiling, with scrawlings all around him
Beetle (Disturbed)
“I have a plan, you see, I know what
to do”
We cut to
the beetle outside the door
Beetle (Disturbed)
“He thinks he is better than me, he
thinks he can finish me,
But I know he is mortal, I know I can
finish him first
With one, quick, Thrust
And then, quiet.
We cut to
the Beetle’s hands holding a knife
Beetle (Disturbed)
“Because I have this”
He turns
his head back to the door
Beetle (Disturbed)
“All you have is your mind games, and
They won’t get to me”
Knock
Knock Knock
The Beetle
rushes to the door, with a knife behind his back. He laughs manically and
swings the door open. We watch the beetles face, front mid shot, as he goes
from manic to confused, he looks down.
Cut to a
shot of a cute little maggot.
Maggot (Shy)
“Erm, hello, I’ve erm, just moved in
next door
I’m ever so sorry if I disturbed you,
I’m
Quite shy and I got nervous, erm, I
just wanted to say
Hello and wondered if we could be
friends, I
Don’t really know anyone in these
parts and
Lived pretty much on my own at my last
place
Through
this dialogue we see the Beetles face drop from confused to heart warmed. When
the maggot finished he sniffs and looks up at the beetle. Cut to a mid shot of
the Beetle
Beetle (Softened)
“Of course we can be friends, I am
no-one to
Be shy around, would you like to come
inside for a
Coffee or some mud”
The Maggot
smiles and walks towards the Beetle, who puts his arm around him and leads him
inside, we see the Beetle still has the Knife behind his back, he turns to the
camera and laughs manically, fade out on the laugh
